18 March 2010
Year 2009 became very difficult in the market of timber drying. Domestic sales in Finland ground to a halt. Russia had also encountered similar problems, with nothing of note happening there at the beginning of year 2009.
Now, after a long quiet period, inquiries are evidently increasing both in Finland and in Russia. With plenty of offers made, Jartek is expecting to sign new agreements at the beginning of this year.
In the late summer Jartek got a big order on delivery of two-stage drive-through chamber dryers complete with the buildings from Komi Republic The foundations are under construction now and the machinery has been shipped around the turn of the year. The plant is to be completed by spring.
Moreover, Jartek delivered three new chamber dryers on turnkey basis to the factory of Karelia Upofloor (Focus Wood) in Russia. Jartek also sign an agreement on delivery of nine chamber dryers at the end of the year 2009. The heating plant of the Heinola factory will be moved there also, with Jartek taking care of whole move.
The installation work at the factory of Trans-Sibirskaja Lesnaja Kompanija is going along well. In January 2009, the installations were commenced in rather chilly weather conditions which, however, did not disturb the local assembling staff. Whilst thirty chambers are almost complete, but due to local difficulties the client has been forced to postpone the commissioning until spring.
